| Wherever she goes, abroad and throughout the UK, Lesley records the subjects that inspire her work through numerous photographs, as well as in her mind’s eye through memory. She never works directly from these photographs however, preferring instead to create her paintings from images and shapes created through memory and emotional response.
Lesley’s creative inspiration is focussed on the feeling of a place, or a plant, exploring the energy contained therein. She works very quickly to begin with, filling the canvas with background colour and shapes. The finer detail comes later. As her interest lies in texture and surface, sometimes she will work on a painting for six months to a year, working, then re-working the paint; building layers upon layer, scraping it back and reapplying until she is happy with the resulting creation.
Lesley Seeger's work explres the expansiveness of expression and feeling, more recently focussing on the power and energy of plant-life. Such power and energy is described by the marks she makes with the paint, and how these are made, using razor blades, palette knives and her hands more often than brushes. There is a vigour and vitality in these pieces that will enhance any energetic and lively contemporary interior design.
Prices vary on the size of each canvas and time spent on each work, ranging from just £450 for a piece twenty inches square.
